Austin Police To Draw Blood On New Years Eve
Stay safe this New Year's Eve, don't drink and drive. Police from around the country are running checkpoints and some cities like Austin, are even demanding blood samples on the spot. If you're drunk, sleep where you're at, get a ride from a friend, or use a cab. Some cities even have free services that will bring you home.
No refusal policy allows cops to draw blood

KXAN | Austin police are implementing the no refusal policy for this upcoming New Year's holiday. From 9 p.m. on New Year's Eve until 5 a.m. on New Year's Day, Austin police will order blood draws on people suspected of driving while intoxicated who refuse to submit to a breath test.
This will be the second time APD has instituted the policy in an effort to keep Austin roads safe. Meanwhile, some claim the policy violates civil rights.
